Professional Photographer or Friend w/ a Camera?

So your uncle “Joe” has a nice camera and claims he’s a photographer, and wants to experiment on your wedding day. Why not, right? After all, you have seen a few shots he’s taken outdoors and they are pretty good.
These pictures demonstrate the difference between hiring a professional photographer, and just having some family friend who has little experience shooting an actual wedding. The pictures on the right were taken by Moments to Remember next to pictures on the left taken by an amateur at the exact same venue and during the exact same time of day.
To the other photographer's defense, Aspen Landing is a very difficult venue with high ceilings (farther for a flash to bounce off) and dim lighting.  But that's why you must have someone who knows what they are doing.

These are actual pictures taken by someone claiming to be a photographer, who even had a pretty nice camera & mounted flash!  Don’t let this happen to you.

You only have ONE wedding day, and once it’s gone, you will never be able to bring it back. And the only tangible things you will have when it’s all over are your pictures and video.

Make sure you entrust those priceless memories with someone who has experience dealing with low-light conditions. With over 50 weddings behind me, I know what it takes to capture your wedding in any lighting. Have confidence in putting that special job in my hands.
