Lisa and Greg had a beautiful ceremony surrounded by many friends and family. I've never seen such a well-attended reception! With a live band and great food, they had a great party and a day to remember.

Beautiful Backyard Wedding

McKenzie & Tom had a beautiful backyard wedding with an orange and turquoise color theme. Incredibly, just before the ceremony, the clouds opened up and down-poured over the entire venue for about an hour (note the rain on top of the car here) and the sweet wedding party & family were completely patient and in good spirits!

As a surprise for the bride and groom, this flame-thrower was hired entertainment and did an excellent job!

Just had to show you the amazing decorations before and after the rain! Before:

And after the downpour:

What a beautiful venue for a wedding and I just loved the color-theme she chose.

Later they had a party at Club 90 with a live band, food, friends and fun.

How to Make Money in Photography

Photography at the Great Salt Lake by Moments to Remember
The salt lake is a beautiful place for pictures, and sunset is the best time of day to do them. So if you're looking for an evening shoot, this is the perfect place to go. Sun is setting around 9 pm now, so I start the shoot at 8 and go for an hour.

If you're looking for an urban-city themed photo shoot, there is a huge variety downtown SLC to choose from.

The Salt Lake City library in downtown SLC has some awesome architecture and great variety.

If you've got a retro/vintage car you'd like to take pictures with, they make the perfect photo prop. There are also several companies who rent these vintage cars by the hour.

Natural Beauty: Photography by Moments to Remember
For natural beauty, we might venture through the canyons or other fields and parks. Daybreak and Murray park are great. I would also love to take pictures at the Jordan River Parkway if you want to try something new.

Garden Park Ward Photography by Moments to Remember
GPW is really popular and a great place for pictures, but sometimes has several photographers that we will need to work around.

Tips for Better Bridal Photography

If you're hiring for makeup- I've had a few brides lately who paid to get their makeup done for their wedding/bridals and ended up really NOT liking it. You're the expert of your own face- so it will seem a little weird when someone else does your makeup because you're not used to it - so if you're hiring someone to do the makeup, make sure you do a test run with them before the actual wedding or bridal shoot to see if you're going to like it.

If you're keeping your bouquet- You might look into getting a smaller "toss" bouquet so you don't have to toss yours to some lucky single lady.

If you're having a reception with low-lighting- you might want to choose a slow song for your first dance so the camera has an easier time focusing in the dark.

If you're doing the traditional events of a wedding- like cake cutting, bouquet & garter toss, first dance, and mom/son daddy/daughter dance you might think about having a DJ or someone announce the events over loud speakers so your guests know what's going on.

You know those strings that are attached to the inside of your wedding dress just above your shoulder to keep the dress on a hanger? Cut 'em off. They end up coming out all over the place, and you really won't like them hanging out in your pictures.

Remember that there is no perfect wedding day- Funny things happen at every wedding, but that's when you're able to look back with a good story!

Another cousin's wedding I shot for fun! Wish I could have been at the reception longer but I had another wedding that night :) Congratulations Kristen!

Now that was a low-lit reception! I specialize in capturing the ambient lighting of your receptions, no matter what lighting you have! Remember that the darker your wedding, the harder it will be for a beginning photographer or hobbyist to capture your special day - (check out these examples here!)
